ubuntu installation failed 1/4 way through and killed windows mbr.
hello,

PC wont boot up After saving data I tried to do a clean install of ubuntu. Using ubuntu I partitioned the disk and formatted each partition but the installation failed about 1/4 way through. Now I cant boot into either OS. Just get black screen. I used a windows disk to get into recovery but every item I clicked on just sent me back to black screen except cmd. I used this command bootrec /fixmbr result: operation completed successfully. but still wont boot up.

I really dont want to lose windows as i have just done a clean install and the updates took ages. I had originally d/l a windows iso which took several hours due to my slow BB speed (max 4mb usually between 2 & 3 mb) however it failed to burn properly so would not boot up the system, So I used a windows disk about 2 years old and the updates took about 6 hours but at least everything worked perfectly.

Now I need to install ubuntu which I hope will fix grub and mbr. I disabled fast boot in windows and the system has been set to legacy mode from the first time I installed win.10 onto a 500Gb sata HDD

Please help

Thanks!

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
